ROAD
FROM ASSIN DARMANG TO ASSIN ASAMANKESE NEED SPEED RAMPS AND STREET LIGHTS
The stretch of road
from Assin Darmang to Assin Asamankese (Kwame Atta) has become a threat and a
death trap to residents. This road records numerous accidents in almost every
given month.
Anybody who has plied
that road before will be quick to testify that driving on that road is hell
dangerous, especially the small curve of the road that links Atobiase to Assin
Achiase has oftentimes witnessed incessant accidents and the only amulet to see
you through is prayers.
People who live along
this road have bemoaned the rate at which children who try to cross the road to
school are being knocked down day in day out. Oldies as well trying to use the
road to their farms often get involve with heavy trucks that seldom ply it.
Drivers that commute
the road forget that it passes through villages and hence should drive with
caution since residents will use the road in their daily activities. Villagers
along the road have always lived with the fear of always seeing life snorted
out of people. Residents here live in so much fear, because they do not know
who will be next. Grappled with the thought that a vehicle might crush or badge
into their building leave them restless as well as sleepless nights.
Coupled with this, is
the fact that there are no street lights on this extension of road that makes
it complicated for both drivers and pedestrians to use at night. For those who
feel it is suicidal to cross the road when is dark, is a seeming curfew for
them .Because it is mostly impossible to go out without crossing the road.
This issue has for long
been broached, but still nothing has been done to surmount this heinous problem
that has made life for people around unbearable. Authorities in charge of road
should ensure something is done to save the situation by providing speed ramps
to cut down the speed of drivers when they get to this stretch of road and
street lights to boost visibility. Drivers should also be given education about
the dangers their actions pose to residents.
